Youth unemployment in the Pacific

Devpolicy Research Associate Richard Curtain was on the panel for the latest episode of the Praxis Discussion series on youth unemployment, at major development challenge for the region. Richard is a specialist in youth labour markets and has extensive experience in the region, particularly in Timor-Leste. He was the lead author of a recent Devpolicy submission [pdf] to a government inquiry into Australia’s relationship with Timor-Leste, which focussed on the importance of regional employment solutions to address Timor-Leste’s high levels of youth unemployment.

Richard was joined on the panel by Stephen Close, Human Development Specialist at the World Bank; and Dr Jioji Ravulo, Lecturer, Social Work and Community Welfare Studies, University of Western Sydney.

Jonathan Pryke

Jonathan Pryke worked at the Development Policy Centre from 2011, and left in mid-2015 to join the Lowy Institute, where he is now Director of the Pacific Islands Program. He has a Master of Public Policy/Master of Diplomacy from Crawford School of Public Policy and the College of Diplomacy, ANU.
