Melbourne is preparing to host an expected 14,000 delegates for AIDS 2014 (the 20th International AIDS Conference), which kicks off on July 20 and includes a star-studded list of presenters.

But for those who can’t make it down south for the jam-packed program, there is an opportunity to see some of the speakers here in Canberra.

The National Press Club will be hosting a preview event on Friday July 18.

Speakers include: Professor Francoise Barré-Sinousi, who received the 2008 Nobel laureate in Medicine for her role in discovering HIV; Lord Norman Fowler, who was Health Secretary in Margaret Thatcher’s government for six years and has authored a book on HIV and led major education campaigns; and Professor Sharon Lewin, a leading researcher and Local Co-Chair for AIDS 2014.

It looks like a great opportunity to hear from some of the leading voices on this critical issue. Bookings can be made on the National Press Club website.
