Congratulations to Bal Kama, a regular Devpolicy blogger and ANU Law PhD student, who last week in London was named Commonwealth Pacific Young Person of the Year for 2016, and announced as the regional winner in the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work. He received his award from Queen Elizabeth, pictured above.

Bal’s award was in recognition for the work that his Kama Scholars Foundation does to provide scholarships for children in remote villages in his home country of Papua New Guinea. The Foundation also advocates for girls education, conducts health awareness training on hygiene and lifestyle, and empowers disadvantaged youths.
