The Development Futures conference will take place on Thursday and Friday this week in Sydney. The conference is organised by ACFID’s University Network and the University of Technology, Sydney’s Institute for Sustainable Futures. This year, the theme is ‘alternate pathways to end poverty’ and the presentations will cover current and emerging development priorities, innovations and new approaches to development.
Devpolicy staff and associates will be heavily engaged in discussions at the conference. Associate Director Robin Davies will be speaking in several sessions, including a panel on ‘A new era for Australian aid?’, which will also feature Devpolicy Research Associate Joanna Spratt and Devpolicy Blog contributor Benjamin Day, along with Dr Irene Guijt from ANU. The panel will focus on the future of Australian aid and the integration of AusAID into DFAT. Robin will also participate in the closing plenary. Devpolicy Research Fellow Margaret Callan will be chairing sessions on business and development.
