Is international volunteering a genuine asset to development? Or just a way to fulfil our own desires to save the world? Is there a ‘right way’ to run a volunteer program?
In an event on Thursday 19 November in Melbourne, Red Cross will present a lively debate about what it takes to build stronger, more sustainable volunteering programs.
Devpolicy’s Ashlee Betteridge will be participating (you can read her reflections on her volunteer experience here). Other panellists include Marc Purcell of ACFID, Peter Devereux of Curtin University, and Chrisanta Muli of Oxfam Australia.
The event runs 6pm-9pm at the David Pennington Building, Melbourne University.
