Bishop to launch aid benchmarks at National Press Club

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop will unveil the much anticipated ‘new aid paradigm’ of the Coalition government in an address to the National Press Club in Canberra on June 18.

According to the event blurb,  the new paradigm will “shift the priorities of the aid program, reflecting both our national interests and the interests of partner nations and the changed environment in which our aid program operates”.

You can book online to attend the event. For those not in Canberra, National Press Club addresses are broadcast live on ABC1 and News 24 and are streamed online, so mark your calendars.

We here at Devpolicy made a submission to DFAT as part of the benchmarks consultation process, along with numerous other stakeholders (summarised here), so there will no doubt be strong interest in what the Foreign Minister’s address reveals and which suggestions have been taken on board.
