Vale Bill Standish

Dr Bill Standish, ANU academic and venerated researcher of and commentator on PNG politics, died on Sunday 31 March. Samples of some of Bill’s penetrating analysis can be found on the Devpolicy Blog: here, here, here and here. Obituaries can be found here and here.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Monday April 15, at 2pm at Gandel Hall, National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Médecins Sans Frontières.

Bill was a lecturer at UPNG from 1971 to 1975, and he never stopped working on the country he loved. He will be greatly missed by colleagues, family and friends, both in Australia in Papua New Guinea.
