Thank you for your question. PNG has a generalised TB pattern. It means that TB is reported in all the 22 provinces. Furthermore, there are variations in TB epidemiology across the regions with some provinces much higher than others. For instance, the Western Province, which is the largest and most sparsely populated province in PNG, had a TB case notification rate (CNR) of 674 per 100,000 in 2016. This prevalence is much higher than the national trend of 359 per 100 000 in 2014. Our recent studies shows that TB is highly prevalent in Western Province (Daru), National Capital District (NCD), some parts of the Highlands Provinces and Madang. Generally, the Southern Region has the highest number and rate of TB notification. Promoting TB infection control measures in healthcare settings and overcrowded communities may prevent TB transmission and reduce the overall TB burden in PNG.

But a Trump victory would raise lots of issues for Australia's development cooperation which are not contemplated in the current policy.
