From Wesley Miti on Like-minded peers embrace education and leadership
Very inspirational and interesting as well. It is true that the kind of friends we choose can either help us or degrade our progress. Very proud of you two which I look upon as role models and I commend you for the great milestones you've achieved. Go out there and serve PNG..
From Philip Kitan on Like-minded peers embrace education and leadership
Great achievement to the young gentlemen and an encouraging story behind the every struggles in life they've faced.
From Mike Hutcheson on Father of geology in Papua New Guinea dies at 89
In early 1974, I saw a tiny advert for an electronics technician wanted at the RVO at Rabaul. I applied for the position and got a call from Hugh asking me to meet him at Sydney Airport for an interview, as he was going straight to Canberra from POM. After a 10 minute chat, he said he'd want me up there by the end of October. I met him again at POM when he welcomed me into the job and that afternoon I was on my way. A really nice man. I have to add, that the airport security at Brisbane knew him well too. When I went through, I was asked what I did in PNG and they replied, "So you worked for Hugh Davies, did you?"

Can those people with a bridging C visa apply for PEV visa?
From Ian Fraser on Squaring a vicious circle: political party laws in Vanuatu
Nice piece, Jon!
I share the doubts of politician behaviour actually changing (and the implicit sigh at the prospect of tedious litigation) - but I wonder: perhaps the referendum is provoking more informed debate among the citizens?
From Vbet on From dalal to legitimate service providers? Bangladesh migration reform
The tragic tale of Mintu Mia highlights the urgent need for stricter regulation in Bangladesh's labor migration sector. The recent reforms, though promising, evidently require accelerated implementation to protect vulnerable workers like Mintu from the harsh realities of informal brokerage. It's high time for all stakeholders, including government and migration agencies, to prioritize the safety and well-being of their workers to truly harness the benefits of labor migration.
