Aid cuts get the comedy treatment

While the aid cuts announced in December and to be detailed in next week’s budget may be hard for many to laugh about, Charlie Pickering took a savvy look at them on his news comedy show ‘The Weekly’ on ABC this week. Australians’ lack of knowledge on the size of our aid budget, voter support for cuts, the repeated cuts under the Coalition and the asylum seeker diversions under Labor were all skewered. The overall message was that aid is Australia’s interests, we give very little, and that Australians should say no to further cuts.
